Hailing from all over Canada (the Ashley brothers are originally from Whitehorse, Freedom Danish hails from Ottawa/Halifax – they’re all now residing in Montreal/Toronto), the Root Sellers bring a dynamic, original live show everywhere they go. They’ve represented Canada at both the 2010 Olympic games in Vancouver, as well as in Beijing in 2008. Their show is comprised of a healthy mixture of DJing, lyrics & MC’s, live instrumentation (nuff fiddles!) and even acrobatics & pyrotechnics..
They’ve been around the block enough times, and have collaborated with some of the biggest & brightest names in the scene, such as Max Ulis, Myagi, & Harmsworth – not to mention this splendid bootleg with JPod, recently put up for free download via their soundcloud:
They’ve also been remixed by Homebreakin‘s DJ Audit, and Kelowna’s Stickybuds did a remix of their most recent single ‘Snakebite,’ as did DZ & Busta. Check it out in the following soundcloud set – also peep ‘Sideways Sandwiches’ – one of my favorite Root Sellers tracks ever!
The Root Sellers are playing tonight (Thursday August 11th) here in Nelson BC at the Spiritbar, alongside dj Dubconscious & dj MykAll, for the low price of $5 – this show is not to be missed! They will be in Pemberton for the 2 Acre Shaker this Saturday August 13th, Vancouver at W2 on Saturday August 20th, and in Victoria at Hush Nightclub on Wednesday August 24 – on their way down to play several sets at Burning Man.
