After hightailing it out of Nelson BC after a sold out show with Blue King Brown, DJ Dubconscious is headed out east to play a big Canada Day party in Ottawa alongside headliners from all over eastern Canada..
First of all there is DZ, originally from the Ottawa area, who then lived in California for sometime with co-conspirator Kozee, and is now back in Canada developing his record label Badman Press. Here’s a couple of my favorite tunes of his, both of which are a bit older..
Rcola is a mainstay in the eastern Canadian ragga jungle scene, having been a part of the seminal Chopstick Dubplate crew back in the early 2000’s. He’s been busy as of late as well, offering up this new jam with Tippa Irie, “I’m a Rebel.”
Also, here’s a classic tune from the Chopstick days..
Jenny Carmichael, aka DJ Vilify, is running wildly successful Bass Drive Wednesdays at the Belmont in Montreal. I first got to know Jenny as fellow ravers in the Toronto jungle scene many years ago, so it’s great to see her doing so well.
Next up is Drastik, a bit more of a DMC type DJ, bringing a housey whomp to the vibe.
And of course myself, will be headlining the Konkrete Jungle room downstairs alongside Rcola…
Really honored to pass through for the KJ613 crew as always, Mz Revolution has been a good friend for a long time, special shout outs go to her for figuring out some last minute transportation kinks to get me into the city on time for my set.. Really looking forward to hers & DJ Saxon’s set downstairs as well!
