new Roots Manuva full-length coming in October..

Initially expected in September, it sounds like the new LP from Roots Manuva is now scheduled for release on October 11th, via Big Dada.  He’s been working away in the studio for close to 2 years now, ever since finishing the tour behind his last original full-length release, “Slime & Reason,” which was released in the fall of 2008.  Check the full tracklist here on XLR8R, and listen to the lead single (a collaboration featuring Toddla T) “Watch Me Dance” below, which is also available as a free download here – via the Big Dada website.

The new LP promises a host of guest appearances, including Toddla T, Ben Westbeech, Ricky Ranking and even Skin & Cass of Skunk Anansie providing backing vocals & bass on the track “Skid Valley.”  He’s also collaborated with Australian producer Dizz1 on the track “Here We Go Again,” re-appropriating the producer’s previously released beat for a vocal track.  It was through Sydney-based, English-Jamaican MC/DJ Spikey Tee that the two were introduced, who is also expected to appear on the album.  Check that original instrumental beat below..

For a more in depth look at the making of this album, check out this interview from ClashMusic.com.

While we’re on the topic, I hope you didn’t miss Slugabed‘s remix of Roots’ classic “Witness,” which saw release via the Ninja Tune XX compilation which came out last year.
