Tune is sounding big to me! I’m definitely feeling it more than the last single which featured Silas of Danish group Turboweekend, “Here Come The Lights” (aka “Slaughterhouse”). The chorus from Shadz is maybe a bit much, and I’d say Buggsy has my favorite verse, but it’s refreshing to hear a real grime tune from Joker finally – I know those are his roots but most of his output has been instrumental or featuring vocalists that don’t exactly spit grime (ie Turboweekend, the Simian Mobile Disco and Gorillaz remixes).. The album is set to be released on November 8th via indie label 4AD – also home to Zomby, not to mention indie stalwarts & old favorites from my high school years, Blonde Redhead & Camera Obscura. Here’s the second single featuring Silas, & the flipside of that 12-inch which was the much-coveted “My Trance Girl.”
The album will also, of course, feature the title track & first single, “The Vision,” which came out in May of this year – both a vocal version featuring Jessie Ware (check the live video from Boiler Room TV below) & (my preferred) instrumental version, which I’ll also embed.
So yeah, the album is shaping up to be stacked, and we don’t even have a full tracklisting yet – I wonder what other goodness he could be prepping for the album? Maybe this one?
