Dreadsquad – new album, music videos & Canadian tour dates

Dreadsquad produced one of my favorite upbeat riddims of recent years, which is the mighty Screw Dem riddim, and I’ll admit the version has actually been my ringtone for almost a year now.  For this riddim, Dreadsquad voices veterans such as Top Cat, General Levy & Tippa Irie, but it is the newer artists that are being given the spotlight now, with music videos released for both the Million Stylez cut – and my favorite of the bunch, Lady Chann‘s “Money Ah Dem God.”

Dreadsquad is touring heavily this year after the release of their 3rd full length album, The Riddim Machine, and will be making the journey all the way from Lodz, Poland to join us in the Fractal Forest at Shambhala Music Festival this year, alongside the Dirty Dubsters – who, together, will bring some proper reggae skanking vibes to the Forest. I also hear that on the following Thursday August 16th after Shambhala, we’ll have the pleasure of catching Dreadsquad play at the Astoria as part of Thursday Ting! – which after running strong for over 4 years, is now a dancehall staple here in Van.

Another favorite of mine from the album is Perfect‘s “Champions Anthem” on Dreadsquad’s Sleng Teng International riddim, for which they also released a clip for earlier this year.  Otherwise, the one I’m partial to on that riddim is Natalie Storm‘s “Beat That Chest,” which you can check on the soundcloud player, along with the rest of the tunes on that instrumental.
