Charlotte, NC beatsmiths Clicks & Whistles have a new EP, Serious Bidness, forthcoming on Distal & Mite‘s Atlanta-based Embassy Recordings, set for 12″ vinyl & digital release on September 17th. The 4 tracks see this duo expanding their scope, featuring more of their epic, sprawling synth melodies combined with dirty south tendancies, expertly programmed drums & heavy sub-bass frequencies. Call it “trap” if you must, but I see these cats enduring the short-lived fads and buzzword-subgenres that are popping up so often these days.
From a quick glance at their soundcloud, you’ll see that they’ve been quite busy over these past few months – just 3 weeks ago they offered up an original track, “Kill Em” along with a pair of stellar Ludacris & Trick Daddy bootlegs, all available for free download – same goes for their recent Frite Nite podcast, which is stacked with unheard exclusives. You can also preview remixes they’ve done for some of today’s premiere bass music acts such as RackNRuin, Mak & Pasteman, Embassy labelmate Edgewoode (aka Mayhem of drum & bass fame), with promise of a remix for Slick Shoota just around the corner.
